  A: The first step for service or repair is to place the vehicle in PARK and lift it up. At the transmission manual shift lever, move the cable-at the lever to disconnect the eyelet and then pull the cable adjuster free from its bracket for RFE transmission vehicles. Drop the vehicle down and peel back the dash panel insulation as needed to remove the gearshift cable grommet. Pull out the grommet from the dash panel and any needed steering trim to get to the gearbox cable and BTSI component. First, disconnect the BTSI wiring connector and then disconnect the cable at the strip under the shift lever and lower column too, pulling it through the car's dashboard opening. The last step is to remove the gearshift cable from the car.
