2007 Chrysler Aspen Wiper Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Wiper Motor Without Damaging the Plastic Drive Link Bushing on 2007 Chrysler Aspen?
A: When working on the front wiper motor, avoid pressing on or bending the plastic bushing; instead, exercise care when pressing only on the metal parts around the bushing, as a bend in the plastic makes you replace the entire front wiper module. It's important not to remove the crank arm nut on the wiper motor output shaft, as making an indexing mistake can still require you to get a new front wiper module. Set the front wiper motor (7) and crank arm (5) unit along the front wiper module bracket (6) from below. Attach the motor to the bracket using three screws, each trapped to a torque of 7 Nm (62 in. lbs.). Then, attach the left wiper drive link (4) sleeve bushing to the motor crank arm and lay the socket bushing (3) of the right wiper drive link (2) over the crank arm's ball stud. On the capped side of the bushing, insert a short 3/4 inch or 19 millimeter socket and squeeze the socket with a set of heavy channel-lock pliers to slide the bushing on smoothly, without pressing separately on the plastic. Put the wire harness back on the wiper motor, secure the front cowl plenum cover/grille panel over the wiper module and link up the battery negative terminal. Turn the key to the On position, cycle the front wiper switch On and Off to make sure the motor and linkage are parked and then update the front wiper arms to their natural positions before adding them back to the wiper pivots.
