- Q: How to Install an Alternator on a 3.8L Engine on 2007 Chrysler Pacifica?A: Place the idler pulley on the end of the generator before installing the whole unit in the vehicle. Tighten these parts of your suspension loosely in place. Screw the idler pulley into place first, before tightening all other bolts to 54.2 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). After that, handle the power steering pump assembly carefully and screw it in place with three bolts tightened to 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.). Put on the accessory drive belt and join the battery cable to the generator, holding the nut in place and turning it by 12.5 Nm (110 in. lbs.). Re-secure the cable so the snap-on cover is in place, connect the field connector and complete it by locking the connector. Next, attach the negative terminal of the battery and put the air box back together.
