  • Q: How to Service and Repair an Alternator on 2008 Chrysler Pacifica?
    A: You should remove the negative battery cable before handling the alternator to prevent any injury. At the battery, pin down the negative cable and then take out the air box assembly. Do not jam the drive belt onto the pulley rim with a screwdriver because it might weaken the belt. You should not need to take off the power steering lines as you work on the drive belt; simply move the lines aside after taking them off the support bracket. After that, unfasten the pump assembly from the bracket and place it separately. Gently pull the field wire electrical connector away by pushing the connector tab and then take off the plastic cover at the B+ stud. Unscrew the nut and take out the B+ terminal at the back of the generator. Now, get rid of the generator mounting bolts and afterward take out the mounting bolts and generator idler pulley from the generator. Also, take the generator out of the bracket where it was fixed so you can fully examine it.
