2007 Dodge Caliber Muffler Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Muffler on 2007 Dodge Caliber?
A: Service and repair of the muffler should wait until the exhaust system is cool, to avoid the risk of burns, especially around the catalytic converter which gets hot rapidly. Whet n replacing any exhaust system part, always pick original equipment items or their matching equivalents. Use a hoist to lift the vehicle, apply penetrating oil to the nut and bolt on the clamp of the part you're taking off and avoid liquid dish soap and water for the gaskets in the muffler or exhaust pipe. Following this, take out the strap that grounds the exhaust system from the back of the I-Pipe/Muffler assembly. Unscrew the band clamp and get rid of the support isolators that connect the I-Pipe/Muffler assembly to the catalytic converter. Lastly, clear off any dirt or grease from the pipe ends and muffler, so that every piece snaps into place properly and remove all rusted, worn-out or badly used clamps, supports and joints.
