How to Maintain and Repair a Universal Joint with Snap Rings on 2007 Dodge Dakota?

Before starting work on the universal joint, put EP N.L.G.I. Grade 1 or 2 grease inside all the yoke bores. Stick the yoke into the lube tube and set the cross (1) so the lube fitting on top. Thread the bearing cap (1) onto the cross end (2) so that the yoke bore aligns with it, then firmly push the cap into the yoke bore until you clear the snap ring groove. Do the same thing for the bearing cap on the other side of the wheel. If the needle bearings seem to be sticking or if the joint feels tight, hit the yoke gently with a hammer to make them sit properly. Also, apply grease to the lube fitting if it is present.
