2007 Dodge Durango Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A
Q: How is the Harmonic Balancer Installed on 2007 Dodge Durango?
A: Clean the harmonic balancer bore and crankshaft nose completely before fitting the harmonic balancer to keep the engine from being damaged. Put the crankshaft harmonic balancer over the key and move it along the crankshaft until it just fits in place. Attach Special Tool 8512-A by first screwing nut (2) onto the threaded rod (3), then pushing roller bearing (1) onto the rod so the hardened surface faces the nut (4) and sliding the hardened washer (5) onto the threaded rod next. Wipe the end of the threaded rod with Mopar(R) Nickel Anti-Seize or another type of anti-seize product. Place Special Tool 8512-A on top of the harmonic balancer and press it into place on the crankshaft. Then tighten the crankshaft harmonic balancer bolt to 175 Nm (130 ft. lbs.). After that, fix the radiator fan, the accessory drive belt and reattach the negative cable to the battery.
