Before servicing or repairing the harmonic balancer and
Crankshaft pulley, first remove the negative battery cable. Loosen the fan shroud retainer bolts and set the shroud aside, after that unplug the cooling fan and the
Serpentine Belt. Next, take off the vibration damper pulley, after that remove the washer and the vibration damper bolt from the crankshaft. Install the bar and screw, along with two bolts and two washers using the Puller Tool Set C-3688, push the vibration damper tool into the damper, then pull the damper off the crankshaft. To install, put the vibration damper on the crankshaft, then press it tightly onto the crankshaft using the tool from Puller Tool Set C-3688. Join the crankshaft bolt with its washer, setting the tension to 183 Nm (135 ft. lbs.) and then tighten the crankshaft pulley bolts to 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.). Replace the serpentine belt and the cooling system fan, then tighten their bolts to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.) torque. Then, secure the fan shroud into place, tighten the bolts to 11 Nm (95 in. lbs.), install them and reconnect the negative battery cable last.
