First, to service or fix the trunk or liftgate hinge, pull up the hatch and support it with a proper prop or block. Also, remove the trim plate from up above the liftgate opening area. First, mark the midpoint of the hinge's liftgate slots and afterward remove both screws that hold the hinge to the liftgate in place. Also, make a mark on the upper liftgate opening header at the location for the hinge body half during reinstallation. Pull the far edge of the headliner from the header and you will find two plastic nuts holding the hinge studs. After that, take out the hinge from the vehicle.
