How to Install an Axle Shaft on 2007 Dodge Nitro?

To install the axle shaft, place the axle shaft (1) into the axle tube (2) and line up the cup splines on its side with the splines on the side gear. Lubricate the inside area of the bearing as well as the seal lip with gear lubricant. After that, install the C-lock (1) at the end of the axle shaft and then push the shaft toward the center, so the C-lock seats in the side gear. After that, slide the pinion mate shaft (1) into the differential case (2) between the thrust washers and differential pinions. Place the shaft in the differential case so that the holes in both fit together well and use a lock screw with Mopar Lock & Seal on its threads, tighten to 26 Nm (19 ft. lbs.). After that, add the differential cover and all necessary rear brake components.
