2007 Dodge Nitro Battery Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Install Battery Cables on 2007 Dodge Nitro?
A: Remove any metallic jewelry before you touch the battery cables, as you could easily be shocked by arcing electricity. After putting the battery cables into the engine area, attach each pushpin (6), fastener and routing clip, checking the placement of the cables is exactly like the original setup. Secure negative battery cable (8) to the mounting stud (2) on the engine block and lock it using the negative cable nut (1). Fit the end of the positive cable (7) to the B+ terminal on the starter motor (3) and screw in the retaining nut (4). After that, attach the positive battery cable (2) to the B+ terminal on the generator (5) and tighten the retaining nut (1) to 14 Nm (125 in. lbs.). Fix the cable with arrow #2 to the mounting stud with a nut (1), secure it with a torque wrench at 9 - 11 Nm (80 - 100 in. lbs.) and close the TIPM cover. Attach the battery cable assembly routing clips to the inner fender, lay the negative battery cable (6) over the mounting stud (7) and fasten it in place with the stud tightened to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.). Then, join the battery positive cable (1) and hold it with a nut tightened to 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.) and next join the battery negative cable (2) and also hold it with a cable clamp nut tightened to 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.).
