2007 Dodge Nitro Brake Booster Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Brake Booster on 2007 Dodge Nitro?
A: With the car in left-hand drive, place the booster in position on the dash, bolt on the booster mounting nuts and tighten them enough to keep the booster attached. Coat the pedal pin in Mopar multi-mileage grease, slide the booster push rod onto the brake pedal and fasten it with the retaining clip. Screw the mounting nuts on the booster to 25 Nm (220 in. lbs.), add a new brake lamp switch and reconnect the electrical cable. Mount the knee blocker and inspect the seal at rear of the master cylinder if you are using the original master cylinder; if it is cut or torn, it needs to be replaced. Wipe the area around the booster's cylinder with a shop towel and brake cleaner so it sits properly and does not leak vacuum. Put the master cylinder on the booster studs and attach the mounting nuts to 25 Nm (220 in. lbs.). Put the hose from the vacuum system into the booster check valve, fix the HCU in place and check the mounting nuts on the bracket which should be tightened to 14 Nm (125 in. lbs.). Bolt the brake lines to the HCU or junction block and master cylinder by hand, first, because cross-threading is easily done with a power tool. Join the wire to the fluid level switch found at the reservoir bottom, going through the base brake system's filling and bleeding, then verify the brakes before moving the car.
