2007 Dodge Nitro Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Fuel Rail on a 3.7L Engine on 2007 Dodge Nitro?
A: The pressure in the fuel system must be let out before you start working on the fuel rail of a 3.7L engine, because it will remain active even when the car is paused. The rails are sold and installed as one piece, so do not remove them apart where the connector tube is found since it does not use clamps; do not put any clamps on the tube. You'll need to uncover the fuel tank filler tube cap first and then use the Fuel System Pressure Release Procedure. Unhook the negative battery cable, take out the air duct and air box near the throttle body and free the fuel line with a special tool. Following that, disconnect the vacuum/vapor lines from the throttle body and remove the electrical connectors from the six fuel injectors which you do by pressing the red slider back, depressing the tab and taking out the connector at each point. Each injector position on the wiring harness is automatically marked for identification. Remove the two electrical connectors from the throttle body sensors, detach the six coil packs and take off the four fuel rail mounting bolts. Gently push and pull the left side of the fuel rail so that the fuel injectors start to free the holes in the cylinder head and do the same thing for the right side. Afterwards, take the fuel rail with the injectors out of the engine. If fuel injectors must be taken out, use the approved way to remove them.
