2007 Dodge Nitro Ignition Coil Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove an Individual Ignition Coil on 2007 Dodge Nitro?
A: A separate ignition coil fits in each cylinder hole in the head, with a mounting stud/nut on top to attach it to the top of the intake manifold. There's a rubber boot right at the bottom of the coil, securing the spark plug with a spring that cannot be changed separately. To seal the coil, an O-ring is placed at the opening into the cylinder head. It is important to take off the air intake tube or box to gain access to the coil. To enable you to pull the electrical connector away, release the connector lock while driving the connector down. Before unscrewing, blast away any accumulated dust from the base of the coil with compressed air and remove the coil mounting nut from the mounting stud. Unevenly twist the coil as you pull it out from the engine cylinder opening, then take it out of your vehicle.
