2007 Dodge Nitro Brake Light Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace a Brake Light Switch on 2007 Dodge Nitro?
A: First, put the battery negative cable aside to turn off the supplemental restraint system and then let it stay disconnected for two minutes so that the air bag is no longer active. Because the brake lamp switch is one-time use, if it's taken out of the bracket, it needs to be replaced with a new switch. Press the brake pedal down and keep it pressed after that. Lift the switch housing so the tabs on the switch's back sit in the keyhole of the bracket. Move the switch to the right about a dozen times to lock the tabs in place and then let go of the brake pedal normally. Turn the plunger adjustment release lever clockwise until it clicks into place, so the lever is aligned with the brake lamp switch connector receptacle; doing so sets the switch plunger at its final adjustment which cannot be changed back without replacing the brake lamp switch. Connect the wire harness connector to the brake lamp switch, put the steering column opening cover back onto the instrument panel and snap the battery negative cable in place.
