2007 Dodge Nitro Air Bag Control Module Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely and Correctly Install an Air Bag Control Module on 2007 Dodge Nitro?
A: Prior to fitting the Air Bag Control Module, first disable the supplemental restraint system by disconnecting the battery negative cable and letting it go for two minutes to release the system capacitor. Be gentle with the occupant restraint controller to prevent drops or side impacts, because any damage to the impact sensor would require you to replace the module. Replace the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) and the Occupant Classification Module (OCM) in that sequence and do the supplemental restraint verification test after you change the first. Removing the ORC should include the bracket that comes attached to the service replacement unit. Attach the ORC and bracket to the studs that are on the left of the ORC mount panel tunnel, making sure the arrow showing the housing's direction points forward. First secure the right side of the ORC mounting bracket with two screws, fastened tightly with 10.5 Nm (95 in. lbs.) torque, followed by placing and tightening two nuts on the left side to 10.5 Nm (95 in. lbs. of torque). Align the ends of the instrument and body wire harnesses with the ORC connector receptacles and push the latches securely into place. Once the center console is back on top of the floor panel transmission tunnel, don't link the battery negative cable until after finishing the supplemental restraint system verification test with all new components.
