2007 Dodge Ram 1500 Coil Springs Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix Coil Springs on 2007 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Raise the vehicle, make sure it's supported properly and take off the front wheel and tire before starting to service the coil spring. Hold the thicker part of the front lower control arm on the vehicle's side to take the weight, then remove the shock absorber. Put Spring Compressor DD-1278 onto your vehicle by sliding it into the lower arm, coil spring and frame shock hole, so the bell-shaped adapter is touching the arm underneath and tighten the nut that sits on top of the tool in the shock hole. After the knuckle is detached, snap the spring compressor down, then let the nut go by 1/2 turn to keep the spring in place while the suspension arm is removed. After that, take out the steering knuckle, stabilizer link and lower control arm support. Work the compressor to bring the coil spring closer together and if required, unbolt the control arm pivot bolt to allow it swing down. Fully reduce the pressure on the spring compressor and allow the lower suspension arm to hang lower, before removing the tool and taking out the coil spring and vibration-reducing pad.
