How to Remove a Camshaft on 2007 Dodge Ram 3500?

Before you remove the camshaft, disconnect the negative battery cable and then dismantle the air cleaner assembly. Release the coolant, take off the accessory drive belt and set aside the generator and A/C compressor after removing them. After that, remove the radiator and intake manifold and next come off the cylinder head covers. You must also take out both left and right cylinder heads, the oil pan and the timing case cover. After finishing, take out the oil pick up tube, the oil pump and then the timing chain. Take out the camshaft tensioner/thrust plate assembly and pay attention to find the lifters before installation. After that, remove the tappets and retainer assembly. It's important to help remove the camshaft by inserting a bolt into the front of the cam, then extracting it slowly while watching over the cam bearings.
