How to Remove a Camshaft on 2008 Dodge Ram 3500?

To take out the camshaft, unplug the negative battery cable and remove the air cleaner from the engine. Drain the radiator's fluid, take off the accessory belt, then the generator, along with the A/C compressor. Following, get rid of the radiator and the intake manifold. Now, remove the hydraulic cover from the front cylinder heads and take off the left and right cylinder heads as well. Take out the oil pan as well as the timing case cover afterward. After that, remove the oil pick-up tube and the oil pump. Take out the timing chain and camshaft tensioner/thrust plate assembly, always remembering to recognize the lifters for easing reassembly. Next, get rid of the tappets and the retainer assembly, fit a flat long bolt into the front of the camshaft for assisted removal and get the camshaft off without hitting the bearings with the cam lobes.
