2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Steering Knuckle Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair the Steering Knuckle on a (HD) 4X2 on 2007 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: Before installing the ball joint stud, use mineral spirits to clean the tapers of the ball joint studs on the (HD) 4X2. When placing the hub/bearing on ABS cars, have the speed sensor assembly facing the front end. To start, put the hub/bearing on the steering knuckle and torque the bolts up to 176 Nm (130 ft. lbs.). After that, place the knuckle on both the upper and lower ball joints and then tighten the upper ball joint nut to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs. ) and lower ball joint nut to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Take the hydraulic jack out of the lower suspension arm and fit the tie rod end, sealing it with a tight screw that offers 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.) of pressure. If your car has an ABS wheel speed sensor, fit it along with the brake shield, rotor and caliper. After that, place the wheel on the bearing, secure the wheel and tire together, remove the support and lower the car. The last step is to have a wheel alignment done.
