- Q: How to Install an Air Bag for the Passenger Side on 2007 Dodge Sprinter 2500?A: The passenger air bag should be installed only after disconnecting and isolating the battery negative cable, causing the system capacitor to drain for two minutes. Check to avoid foreign objects inside the passenger air bag or between the air bag cushion and door and make sure the passenger air bag door is not painted which could change how it operates and deploy. Start by taking care when setting the passenger air bag and air bag door unit on the instrument panel. Connect the ground wire from the air bag inflator to the passenger air bag housing and the vehicle wire harness connector to the inflator connector receptacle. Pay special attention that the latch and orange lock are fully fastened into place. Move the air bag forward into the instrument panel all the way, then get into the glove box from the top and install the stanchions on the housing to the instrument panel's support frame. Secure them with four new screws, tightening them to a force of 8 Nm (71 in. lbs.). Place the screws in the holes of the tabs at both sides of the passenger air bag door and tighten them across the instrument panel base trim. Connect the two air outlet bezels along the passenger air bag door and the glove box to the instrument panel. Never attach the battery negative cable until the system verification is performed following the servicing of the supplemental restraint system.
