- Q: How to Install an Air Bag for Side Curtains on 2008 Dodge Sprinter 2500?A: You should first turn off the supplemental restraint system by unhooking and isolating the battery negative cable and then allow another two minutes for the capacitor to release its electricity. Use rubber gloves, glasses and a long-sleeved shirt whenever you work with an air bag. First, set the unit in the vehicle and engage the inflator and bracket at the front between the A-pillar and instrument panel. Lift up the air bag curtain track by pulling up on the garnish to set it between the inside of the roof and headliner. Draw up the top end of the B-pillar trim to be able to connect and tighten the screw that holds the rear bracket onto the roof rail to 4 Nm (35 in. lbs.). Attach the trim to the upper B-pillar followed by installing and screwing the curtain air bag and garnish molding front bracket onto the upper A-pillar to 4 Nm. After that, connect the ground wire eyelet to the thread on the bracket and tighten the two screws that secure the inflator bracket to the A-pillar to 4 Nm (35 in. lbs.). Attach the wire harness connector for the curtain air bag to the inflator initiator, so that both the latch and the orange Connector Position Assurance lock are engaged. Place the A-pillar trim, secure the tether to the top of the A-pillar with a 4 Nm (35 in. lbs.) screw, then slide on the trim inside the A-pillar. Never reconnect the battery negative cable until all steps of the supplemental restraint system verification procedure are finished after any repair on its components is done.
