2007 Jeep Compass Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace a Brake Master Cylinder on 2007 Jeep Compass?
A: Before you get to removing and replacing the brake master cylinder, make sure the power brake booster vacuum is pumped down by pumping your brakes several times until it feels firm and your engine is off. Take the negative ground cable off the battery and store it away from what you are using. After that, remove the wiring harness connector from the brake fluid level switch at the master cylinder brake reservoir. Take off the primary and secondary brake tubes from their openings at the master cylinder and plug them tightly. If you have a manual transaxle, take off the clamp and slide the clutch actuator hose from the reservoir port. Use a proper brake cleaner to clean the surroundings of the master cylinder attachment at the power brake booster. Lastly, get rid of the two nuts keeping the master cylinder to the booster and slide it straight out sideways.
