2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Starter Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Starter Motor on 3.7/4.7L Engines on 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Start by turning off and removing the negative battery cable, then lift up and prop up the 3.7/4.7L vehicle before you do any repairs. Should the vehicle be a 4WD, detach the front drive shaft from the differential. With some 4WD vehicles, a support bracket is in place between the front axle and the side of the transmission; unbolt the bracket using the two bolts at the transmission and with a gentle pry, you'll reach the lower starter mounting bolt. For a vehicle with automatic transmission, loosen and remove the starter motor's two bolts. Shove the starter motor forward until the front of the starter case clears the housing and make sure to support it so it's not hanging by the wire harness when moved. Angle the nose towards the ground and move the starter motor so it no longer touches the floor and you can access and take out the nut securing the battery positive cable wire harness connector eyelet to the solenoid battery terminal stud. After that, take out the battery positive cable wire harness connector eyelet from the solenoid battery terminal stud and separate the battery positive cable wire harness connector from the solenoid terminal connector receptacle.
