2008 Chrysler 300 Brake Disc Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace a Brake Disc on an SRT8 for Rear on 2008 Chrysler 300?
A: Before you change the rear brake rotor on an SRT8, it is necessary to check the brake pads and parking brake shoes. Clear away any dirt or rust from the place on the hub where the rotor is placed. Slide the brake rotor around the studs that are attached to the hub and bearing. Along with the calipers, slide the pads forward to the rotor and place the caliper with pads so that it is aligned with the knuckle. Fasten the caliper bolts and tighten them to approximately 130 Nm (96 ft. lbs.) torque. Take out the jack supporting the spring link and install the tire, getting the wheel on and nuts snug, with both bolts clocking in at 150 Nm (110 ft. lbs.). Don't start driving until you've lowered the vehicle and have tried the brakes a few times to make sure the brake pedal feels secure. Check and maintain the correct brake fluid level in the reservoir as you drive the car. When new brake rotors or pads are put on, you should know that there can be reduced braking power when you brake for the first time. A final step is to road test the car and stop a few times to remove any grime from the brakes and have the new pads burnished.
