2008 Chrysler Aspen Thermostat Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Thermostat for a 3.7L/4.7L Engine on 2008 Chrysler Aspen?
A: For the 3.7L/4.7L engine, it's important to wipe clean the meeting surfaces of the timing cover as well as the thermostat housing. After that, set the thermostat with the spring facing down into the central groove on the timing chain cover; later, move the housing over it. Secure the housing by screwing in two bolts that apply 13 Nm (112 in. lbs.) torque, making sure the housing is snug and the thermostat sits in the middle of the groove to avoid cracks, ripped threads on the cover or coolant leakage. After that, put the lower radiator hose on the thermostat housing, position the splash shield and return the vehicle to a low position. Add coolant, join the negative cable to the battery again and power on the engine to allow it to warm up as you look for any leaks.
