2008 Chrysler Crossfire CV Boot Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a CV Boot on 2008 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: Before servicing or repairing the Constant Velocity Joint Boot, first separate the halfshaft from the car. After that, using a wrench, remove the C/V boot outer retaining clamp (2) from the axle and the inner C/V boot retaining clamp (1) from its housing. Put the halfshaft into a vise and make sure the jaws are covered with protective caps to keep them from damage. Take off the C/V boot on the outer housing and lower it down the axle halfshaft. Remove the grease to show the outer C/V joint and halfshaft. Use a soft-faced hammer to sharply hit the end of the C/V joint housing to remove it from the circle clip on the axle, then remove the outer C/V joint from the halfshaft and remove the C/V boot from the axle halfshaft. Check and inspect outside portion of the C/V joint assembly for signs it may need replacing.
