2007 Chrysler Crossfire CV Boot Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a CV Boot on 2007 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: Before installing the Constant Velocity Joint Boot, examine and clean the C/V joint and change it if pitting or damage is apparent. Take out any mud and stones stuck on the axle splines and cover the shaft splines afterward to keep the boot safe during the job. Install the new C/V boot over the halfshaft and line up the splines across both the axle halfshaft and the C/V joint assembly before pushing it against the circlip. Pound the end of the stub axle with a soft mallet, while holding the C/V boot nut, until the outer joint is touching the halfshaft. Be sure to use only the grease that came with the service kit. Stuff somewhat less than half of the grease through the C/V joint into its outside cavity and then use the rest to fill the C/V boot, ensuring the bead on the inside matches the groove on the axle halfshaft. Attach the C/V boot tail into the C/V joint housing sealing groove at one end and into the sealing groove of the axle halfshaft at the other. Set the inner and outer C/V boot retaining clamps into the boot's sealing grooves, next place the crimping tool on the clamp and secure it with the crimping jaws closed properly. Afterward, crimp the new clamp and then insert the half shaft into place inside the vehicle.
