2008 Chrysler Crossfire Drive Shaft Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install the Drive Shaft on 2008 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: Once you have the flange marks of both the propeller shafts matching the marks on the transmission output and rear axle pinion, you can install the propeller shafts. Make sure to replace every fastener for the driveline in the same position as it was in before being removed. Place the propeller shaft in the car and hold it steady with a jack stand. Put the center bearing bracket in place, then put in the bolts and tighten them to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.). Fix the rear propeller shaft onto the rear axle pinion flange and finalize the torque at normal ride height before adding the three rear propeller shaft bolts and tightening them to 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.). After that, put the front propeller shaft onto the transmission output flange, with the vehicle in its normal position and secure it with three bolts tightened to 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.). Put in the transmission tunnel support bracket and tighten its bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). Place the transmission crossmember and mount, put in the transmission mount bolts and tighten them to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs., then do the same with the crossmember bolts. Fasten and secure the rear exhaust heat shield with the nuts until they reach a tightness of 10 Nm (89 in. lbs.), then get rid of the jack stand for the transmission and continue installing the exhaust system. The last step is to lower the vehicle.
