  A: Before handling the hazard warning switch on vehicles equipped with air bags, first break the connection between the air bag and the battery by removing the negative cable clamp and wait two minutes for the air bag capacitor to drain. Disconnect the negative battery cable as your first step. Next, take the cover of the center console off. With the connectors disconnected, lift on the external group of switches and press their locking friction tabs to get them detached. Click the switch on the side of the hazard switch to lock the tabs and take it out from the center console overlay.
