2008 Chrysler Crossfire Steering Wheel Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Detach a Steering Wheel from an Airbag-Equipped on 2008 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: Shut off the supplemental restraint system on vehicles with air bags before disconnecting and isolating the battery negative cable. Then, wait two minutes for the system capacitor to clear. This step is important to keep accidental air bag deployment and injury from happening. When you work with a deployed air bag, wear rubber gloves, safety goggles and a long-sleeved shirt for safety, since the inside of the air bag may contain simple irritants. Remove the negative battery cable to start, then pull the adjustable steering column all the way in and place the steering wheel so the wheels point forward. Whip out the ignition key to secure the steering in one position. In the next step, take out the air bag screws from the steering wheel (1), then grab a long hex tool (2) to remove the bolt (1) from the steering wheel, while supporting it with your hands. Go through the steering wheel hole with the black air bag connector and then remove the steering wheel. After that, inspect the horn/air bag and clock spring contacts and change them if you notice damage.
