2008 Chrysler Crossfire Water Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install and Replace a Water Pump on 2008 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: First, remove dirt from all gasket areas and then place the water pump with the new gasket onto the timing chain cover. Set the water pump bolts in their matching holes and tighten them to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.). After that, put in the generator, then add the belt tensioner. Afterward, attach the water pump pulley and bolts, tightening them to 10 Nm (89 in. lbs.) and do the same for the idler pulley and bolt. Assemble the lower radiator hose and coolant by-pass hose, turn the belt tensioner in an opposite direction, put on the accessory drive belt and release the tensioner when done. Put in the radiator fan and the engine cover, without forgetting to secure them with the rubber mounts so the retaining clips fit. You can ease this by rubbing a little lubricant on the rubber mounts. Once that is completed, put in the air cleaner inlet tubes, hook up the negative battery cable and fill up the cooling system. Start the car to see if there are any coolant leaks and measure the coolant level once more.
