- Q: How to Install a Starter Motor for a 3.8L Engine on 2008 Chrysler Pacifica?A: To set the starter motor for the 3.8L engine, first fit the dust shield (4) into its correct place. Position the starter assembly (5) with the transmission (2) and then fasten the starter assembly (5) to the transmission (2). Make sure to thread on the two front transmission mount to starter mounting bolts (3) to reach a torque of 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.), then connect the transmission to starter mounting bolt (1) with a torque of 47 Nm (35.5 ft. lbs.). Working from the engine/transmission assembly, unhook the jack stand or equivalent and install the battery cables to the solenoid stud. Tighten the nut to 14.5 Nm (128 in. lbs.) while attaching it. Join the starter solenoid's electrical connector (4) to the electrical connector (5), after which secure the negative cable to make sure the bolt is tightened at 40 in. lbs. Following all the other steps, unbolt support tool 8534-12 from the frame.
