2008 Chrysler Pacifica CV Boot Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a CV Boot on a Constant Velocity Joint on 2008 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: The first step is to slide the big clamp (2) over the interconnecting shaft and then similarly slide the inner CV sealing boot (1) with the raised inside bead over the shaft, securing it in the groove on the shaft. Notice that the circlip should be replaced with a new one. Match the splines between the interconnecting shaft and the cross of the outer CV joint assembly, then fit the outer CV joint onto the shaft. Tap the end of the stub axle (2) with the hub nut (4) in place and the outer CV joint (3) fully seated, so that the cross (2) of the CV joint (3) presses on the circlip on the interconnecting shaft (1). Pour part of the grease from the supplied boot seal package into the outer CV joint assembly housing and save the rest to put inside the boot itself (4). Put the sealing boot from the outer CV joint onto the interconnecting shaft clamp evenly. To secure the sealing boot onto the shaft (2), clamp the boot with the tool by placing the tool over the clamp's bridge (3) and tightening the nut so the tool's jaws shut completely; wait to release the pressure until you are sure the seal is not out of shape, not dimpled and not stretched. Insert the sealing boot (4) that goes onto the outer CV joint housing into the housing's hole and then fit the boot onto the outer CV joint retaining clamp (1). Clamp the sealing boot onto the outer CV joint housing using Crimping Tool C-4975-A, by putting the tool over the bridge of the clamp and tightening the nut so the jaws close together. Reassemble the component with a boot that needs to be replaced onto the car.
