To remove the timing cover, relieve fuel pressure, disconnect the battery, evacuate the A/C system, and drain the cooling system. Remove the air cleaner, water pump pulley, accessory drive belt, power steering pump, generator, and A/C compressor. Drain engine oil, remove the oil pan, and then the timing chain cover.
