2008 Chrysler Pacifica Piston Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Ensure Proper Piston Removal on a 2008 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: Before starting to remove and replace the piston and connecting rod, take off the negative computer from the battery. Once that is done, take out the cylinder heads and the oil pan. If the job requires it, insert a reliable ridge reamer into each cylinder bore to smooth out the top, then take out the pistons covered by the procedure. To remove the pistons and connecting rods from the top, show the crankshaft until each connecting rod is standing upright in the corresponding cylinder bore. Check both the connecting rods and the connecting rod caps to confirm the cylinder number and mark appropriately if you must. Take off the cap on the connecting rod and attach the connecting rod bolt protectors with special tool #8189. Gently extract every piston and connecting rod assembly from the cylinder bore, so you do not damage the crankshaft journals. After removal, put the bearing cap onto the mating rod.
