2008 Chrysler Pacifica Water Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace a Water Pump on a 3.8L Engine on 2008 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: Before removing and changing the water pump on your 3.8L engine, drain the cooling system. Following this, take the accessory drive belt off and then remove the belt shield. Then, detach the water pump pulley bolts with the pulley held in place between the water pump and the drive hub to pull it off. Hold one side of the pulley against the drive hub, rotate the pulley slowly until the holes match the spokes and then move the pulley inward between the hub and the housing. Once the pulley is fixed to position the water pump bolts, remove those bolts and take the water pump with the pulley loosely connected between the hub and the pump body. Remove the original seal and carefully scrub all inside sealing areas on the pump and the timing chain case cover, so as to not harm these areas.
