2007 Chrysler Pacifica Water Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove and Replace a Water Pump on a 3.8L Engine on 2007 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: The first thing you should do is drain the cooling system when removing and replacing the water pump on a 3.8L engine. After that, take off the accessory drive belt shield and the accessory drive belt. Remove the bolts from the water pump pulley, as you want the pulley to stay attached to the water pump so that they exit together. Turn the pulley until its openings are positioned above the spokes of the water pump drive and slide it slowly forward so that it rests between the hub and the housing. Place the pulley so it reaches the mounting bolts on the water pump and then remove them. With the pulley partly off the hub, remove the water pump. Throw out the old seal and wash the grooves and areas that will touch, making sure not to harm them with scratches or blows.
