2008 Chrysler Town & Country Starter Motor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Detach a Starter Motor from a 4.0L Engine on 2008 Chrysler Town & Country?
A: Before removing the starter motor from a 4.0L engine, install engine support tool 8534-12 or an equivalent tool. Separate the negative cable from the battery, disconnect it and take off the nut at the battery and wire it away from the solenoid stud. After that, separate the electrical connector from the solenoid and take out the transmission to starter mounting bolt. Prop up the engine/transmission group with a jack stand, then take out both of the front transmission mount to starter mount bolts. Unmount the starter assembly from the transmission and turn it if needed to help it clear from the housing. Remove the starter motor bushing and the starter motor dust shield in your final step.
