2008 Dodge Avenger Spoiler Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Successfully Install the Spoiler on 2008 Dodge Avenger?
A: Prime with 3M™ adhesion promoter (Part No. 06396) the spots where the tape will be applied around the spoiler's inboard edge and by the "hider lip" at the top and bottom. Take two pieces of 3M™ acrylic plus attachment tape, 3M p/n 06384 and cut them to 1330mm (52.4 in.) each. Pull one side of the attachment paper from a strip of tape and place it beside the hider lip on the spoiler, making sure there is no trapped air. Apply the steps again to the back surface of the spoiler. Press the tape into the spoiler using a hard rubber roller or thrutch firmly with your hands. Make sure the temperature of the application is no lower than 60°F (16°C); if it is cooler, heat the outside of the car with a heat gun to get the proper temperature range between 60°F and 110°F. First, let the vehicle area breathe for a few moments, then avoid touching the adhesive surface, make sure you clean away any remaining tape, don't let the tape stay unprotected and do not apply adhesion promoter over the painted deck lid. Lift one part of the backing paper from each strip of driver's side attachment tape. Keep the unsupported end of the spoiler about 5mm (3/16 in.) from the deck lid edge, directly under the corner radius, while you hold the other end gently away from the vehicle. Align the spoiler with the upper line on the deck lid, beginning on the driver's door and slowly apply the tape all the way across to the passenger door, peeling the backing paper back as you go. Press down hard as you go over the spoiler with the tape and make sure the edges are stuck down properly. If not, press even harder in these areas. Then, put the nuts on and tighten each to 5 Nm (44 inch lbs.).
