2009 Dodge Avenger Spoiler Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How Does the Spoiler Installation Process Work with 3M Adhesion Promoter and Attachment Tape on 2009 Dodge Avenger?
A: The area next to the "hider lip" at the corners of your spoiler should be primed with 3M™ adhesion promoter (Part No. 06396) before joining. Resizing two pieces of 3M™ acrylic plus attachment tape, 3M p/n 06384, so that each one measures 1330mm (52.4 in.). Put half of the backing paper on the printout and stick the tape next to the "hider lip" on the spoiler, again avoiding trapping air. Proceed with the previous steps for the lower part of the spoiler. Gently press the hard rubber roller or use your hand to attach the tape firmly on the spoiler. You must not start an application below 60°F (16°C) and the paint surface must not be covered in condensation. Be careful not to press on the exposed adhesive, use new tape on top of old residue or tape and don't leave your tape sticking with its adhesive uncovered for long. Do not apply an adhesion promoter to the painted area of the deck lid. Separate a section of the backing paper from both pieces of attachment tape on the driver's side of the spoiler. Pull the far end of the spoiler away from the vehicle and make sure the end by the deck lid is 5mm (3/16 in.) from the edge and slightly below the corner radius there. Check that the spoiler is straight like the upper character line of the deck lid and slowly cover it with tape from the driver's side to the passenger side, removing the backing paper as you progress across. Squeeze hard on the spoiler to make sure the edges are well bonded; if it doesn't feel secure, keep applying more pressure. Then, put on the nuts and tighten them to 5 Nm (44 inch lbs.).
