How to Ensure Proper Installation of a Steering Wheel on 2008 Dodge Avenger?

Before installing the steering wheel, check that the steering is right in the center and the signal stalk is in the center as well. Don't push the steering wheel onto the part of the shaft inside the steering wheel. Match the splines at the base of the steering wheel and shaft, then push the wheel on until the Clock Spring lines up with the wheel's back and stays free. Secure the steering wheel with the retaining bolt (2) tightened to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.). After removing the puller, reattach the speed control screw (3) and then plug in the wiring connector (2) to the Clock Spring. Don't connect the battery negative cable until after installing the driver air bag (3), because the air bag System Test has to be done before the battery is connected. Reinstall the battery after the air bag System Test using the same steps and test the vehicle systems as usual.
