2008 Dodge Charger Crankshaft Seal Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Crankshaft Seal Integrated into the Seal Adapter on 2008 Dodge Charger?
A: To service the crankshaft rear oil seal which shares the seal adapter and cannot be taken out alone, you must first unplug the negative battery cable. Afterward, lift the car slightly and get rid of the splash shield by loosening and removing its retaining bolts. After that, take out the structural collar and the transmission. When that is finished, loosen the bolts holding on the flex plate, remove the backing plate and the flex plate itself will come off. Now, remove the oil pan. It is important to realize that the integrated stamped steel seal must be used with the original part, not with the cast aluminum rear seal pack. After that, unscrew the attaching screws and extract the crankshaft rear oil seal/adapter assembly.
