2008 Dodge Dakota Door Hinge Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Install and Adjust a Rear Door Hinge on 2008 Dodge Dakota?
A: To correctly position the hinge on the rear door, first use service studs without shoulders (1) on the shouldered door studs, tightening them firmly to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Apply a good sealant to the open body before hinge work and, if needed, paint the replacement door hinge before it is fitted. Put the door hinge (1 or 4) onto the b-pillar at the locations you marked and bolt it in, adding the bolts (3) and getting them tight by the 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.) marking. Add the inner bolt (2) and fasten it until you reach 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). If the epoxy bonded washers are apart from the hinges, the door may require adjustment, so once removed, install them back. Slowly put on the nuts (2) and bolts (1) that hold the door to the hinges, align the door with the marks you made, tighten all nuts using a torque wrench set to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.) and tighten all bolts from the middle pair outward in the prescribed sequence. Fit the door, follow up with trimming lower edges if required and install the lower b-pillar trim.
