2008 Dodge Dakota Muffler Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How is a Muffler Installed on 2008 Dodge Dakota?
A: You should replace the band clamps before installing the muffler, since they aren't meant for reuse. Stick the muffler to the catalytic converter (1) and confirm that the alignment tang fits neatly into the matching slot. Then, put on a new exhaust clamp (4) and don't tighten it yet; only after that, install the muffler isolators. Secure the tail pipe to your engine area. Place the muffler beside the exhaust pipe and fasten the nuts to 61 Nm or 45 ft. lbs. Following installation, make sure that the exhaust does not touch any part of the body or frame. Leave a space of at least 25 mm (1.0 in.) between them. After that, bring the vehicle down, start it up and make sure there are no gaps in the exhaust system; if you find some, repair them.
