2008 Dodge Dakota EGR Valve Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the EGR Valve on 2008 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before servicing the EGR Control Solenoid, read any Diagnostic Trouble Codes saved using your diagnostic scan tool. Take the negative battery cable off the battery. The next part is to remove the EVAP purge solenoid, as it lifts from its bracket. With the two tube mounting bolts loosened, remove the tube from the solenoid by pulling the end opposite the intake manifold. Get rid of the gasket found between the EGR valve solenoid and the tube flange and pull on the electrical connector at the solenoid. After that, eliminate both EGR valve solenoid mounting bolts and disconnect the solenoid from the engine. After cleaning the solenoid, get rid of the gasket underneath it.
