    A: To take out the crankshaft, the engine must be removed from the vehicle, then the oil pump. Avoid prizing the oil pan gasket. Remove bedplate bolts, noting location of stud bolts. Disconnect connecting rods, carefully handle the bedplate and use pry points to remove it. Finally, take the crankshaft out leaving no damaged bearing surfaces.
