2008 Dodge Grand Caravan Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Bleed a Brake Master Cylinder on 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Before you bleed the brake master cylinder, it must be clamped in a vise between the mounting flange and its body, always avoiding the piston rod, reservoir, seal or body. After that, insert Bleeder Tube, Special Tool 8358-1, into every outlet port and secure them to 14 Nm (120 in. lbs.). Bend the plastic tubes and then put the ends that face up into the container of fluid, so they stay below the fluid surface. Use Mopar(R) Brake Fluid DOT 3 or another specific to DOT 3 and check that the level of brake fluid surpasses the tips of the bleeder tubes to keep air out of the system. With a wooden dowel, push down the brake master cylinder pistons, let them go back up and keep repeating this until all the air is out, ensuring the liquid level above the tubes at all times. Take out the tubes from the tube ends, close the outlet ports with fill caps and set the fill cap on the reservoir. When it is done, remove the brake master cylinder from the vise and install it on the vehicle again.
