2008 Dodge Grand Caravan Brake Booster Parts and Q&A

  • Q: What Preparations Are Necessary Before Installing a Brake Booster on 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Before fitting the power brake booster (1), set a NEW dash seal (2) onto the mounting studs. Tuck the power brake booster under the hood and direct the push rod and studs (4) through a hole in the dash panel with the vacuum check valve facing 10 O'clock on the booster. Install the booster by putting in four mounting nuts and tightening them to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). Push the booster push rod onto the brake pedal pin and fit a NEW retaining clip over the push rod and onto the brake pedal to hold it in place. If the vehicle's pedals can be adjusted, bolt in and adjust the NEW stop lamp switch for left-foot brakes (2) in the pedals bracket; if they aren't adjustable, do the same for the NEW switch (3) made for right-foot brakes in the same pedals bracket. Hook the vacuum hose (1) to the check valve on the booster's face and put the shield (3) on the booster (2) when required. New vacuum sealing is required when fitting the master cylinder (7). Add fresh Mopar(R) Brake Fluid or its equivalent, to the master cylinder and then perform a brake bleed. Finish things off with a drive to check how the brakes work.
