2008 Dodge Grand Caravan Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair the Parking Brake Cable at the Rear on 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Before servicing or repairing the parking brake cable in the rear, first free the parking brake and then raise the vehicle on supports. Take off the three wheel nuts and the whole tire and wheel unit. With a hand, let go of the tension from the automatic adjuster on the parking brake lever cable assembly. Pull the left rear or right rear cable retainer fingers towards each other by turning the left rear cable at the end of the outer housing using a suitable size 12-point box wrench. Remove the left rear or right rear cable from the middle part of the assembly. Release the cable fingers by squeezing the ends where the cable enters the bracket; then pull the cable housing free of the mounting bracket. After removing the sliding cable strand from its bolt head, pull upward on the cable strand and take it out of the caliper lever. If you're servicing the left rear cable, begin by removing the screw connected to the axle trailing arm. Release the routing loop attached to the bottom of the vehicle by removing the rear right cable. Servicing the left rear cable requires you to remove the screw that holds the cable routing loop to the underbody. Before servicing the right rear cable, take out the two screws that anchor the cable to the front of the right rear axle. Slip the cable off the television to finish.
